The 2nd Canada-China Friendship Promotion Association Essay Competition, themed “We remember: Writing on the 100th Anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act in Canada,” aims to trace and profoundly reflect upon this pivotal historical period. We seek to provide greater insight into this heart-wrenching chapter in history, as well as the prejudice and discrimination it inflicted upon the Chinese community. Simultaneously, we aim to delve into the far-reaching impacts of the Chinese Exclusion Act on our lives, culture, and society.

This essay competition will span five months, commencing on September 1, 2023, and ending on January 15, 2024. The awards ceremony will be held in grandeur on February 3, 2024, in Montreal.
